Below are
some pictures, links, and stories of the beginnings of my fine scale HOn3 and
Mainline home layout. What had
started out as a simple N scale portable layout has become an ever consuming quest to start
the most detailed HO scale layout of my life. I spent my younger life
reading all about John Allen's "Gorre & Daphetid" and
George Sellio's "Franklin & South Manchester" and all the
articles in the Narrow Gauge Gazette, so I was always determined to build a
master layout when I got older, well the time has come and now I have started
that life long dream.
The KD & VJ
Rwy will be both, an out and back narrow gauge layout as well as a dog
bone mainline layout. The KD&VJ right of way is utilized by the Western Pacific for
mainline freight and passenger service, while the KD&VJ Narrow
Gauge line, formerly the Beet N Rwy and Narrow Gauge Lumber company,
will serve both the Dry Moss Mining Operations as well as the Grande
Pin'oto Lumber company. The Beet N UP Rwy ops went out of business 20
years before the time period of this layout. The logging operation will be
the last bastion of the old company but under the new name.
This site will include various
how-to sections, several links to some of the greatest layout websites on
the net, and links to where I have bought my materials as well as some of the books
that I have used to get this railroad running. Any Book links on this
site will take you to Amazon books where you can buy the book. These links
help pay for this site. So please look on.

This
part of the future Empirical Layout will be the Marina and roundhouse for
the Narrow Gauge. An Interchange will be further up the mountain and closer
to the Mills. This module is 11' x 28" with the bulge on the right side

Here we see the last version of

able to achieve in N scale was I had grown up loving in HO, "EXTREME
